How LinkedIn diversified its pipeline and enhanced its employer brand
LinkedIn were looking for new joiners with an entrepreneurial mindset
Finding the right talent is always difficult, even for LinkedIn, the world’s leading professional social network. As an innovative start-up, not only were they looking for people with the right technical skills, they were also looking for people with an entrepreneurial, ‘growth mindset’.
We helped LinkedIn launch their first-ever Black Professionals Networking Event with an online campaign
First, we produced a social media Q&A video with a Director at LinkedIn, giving the audience a taste of what working life is like at LinkedIn. By leveraging our YSYS online community which included social media and newsletters, we built strong demand for the event prior to launch day. This reached over 11,600 people online.
As a result, we attracted, vetted and accepted 138 applicants into LinkedIn’s event
We reviewed applications to the programme, and accepted 138 high-potential individuals to the launch event. This included talent from a broad range skillsets including: UX, engineering, customer success, operations, sales and marketing.
Attendees rated the event 5/5 on average, leading to 2 direct hires and 2 interviews.

The Black Professionals LinkedIn Event was filled with useful tips and all the panellists and speakers including Deborah Okenla, graciously sharing their stories, leaving everyone inspired to be bold and focused on forging new quality connections and relationships, and compelled to either continue or start building a network around them where everyone is progressing. - Ebunola Adenipekun
